The world of theatre can offer something to everybody. With various styles, genres and performers out there, there can be a form of theatre to suit everybody. Some people will enjoy plays and will seek out theatre that will move them the way only a Shakespearean play can. Others prefer stand up comedy and can find no greater joy than an established comedian making them laugh in an auditorium. Then of course there are musicals, where actors and singers can make a whole range of people happy whilst they create a feel good atmosphere.

Perhaps one of the best known centres for theatre in this country (and arguably, in the world) is ‘theatreland’ in London. This is the group of theatres in the nation’s capital that make up the famous West End. Theatres such as the Garrick Theatre, the Gielgud Theatre, the Adelphi Theatre, the National Theatre and so forth have been entertaining audiences for years, with some venues dating back hundreds of years. People can enjoy all forms of theatre here of various different genres.

If you cannot make it to London, many productions also tour or showcase their capabilities at the Edinburgh Fringe, meaning there are various opportunities to experience them. Different countries also have their own equivalents such as Broadway in New York.
